Zinc Carbonate
PZT-ZNCA-1 is a basic zinc carbonate used as an H2S scavenger in water-based drilling fluids. It reacts with soluble sulfide in the mud to precipitate insoluble zinc sulfide, taking the sulfide out of solution and reducing both H2S-related corrosion of the string and the personnel exposure risk at surface. Being a dry powder scavenger, it suits water-based systems where a solid additive is preferable to a liquid triazine product. Typical treatment is 0.25 to 2.0 lb/bbl (0.7 to 5.7 kg/m3), adjusted against anticipated or measured H2S concentration. Supplied in 25 kg multi-wall bags. For sour gas and crude oil production streams rather than drilling fluid, PZT-SCAV-1 triazine-based liquid scavenger is the appropriate product.
