Citric Acid

PZT-CA-1 citric acid is a weak organic tricarboxylic acid produced by fermentation (Aspergillus niger) of sugar feedstocks. It chelates/sequesters metal ions - notably iron and calcium - and lowers pH locally, while also dissolving carbonate-based filter cake and scale since it is fully acid-soluble. This acid-soluble removal avoids the permanent formation damage that acid-insoluble bridging solids would leave behind, and citric acid is far milder and safer to handle than mineral acids like HCl for jobs where aggressiveness isn't the priority.
